Perhaps you meant "Advaita Vedanta?" Advaita simply means nonduality.

Since you only "solicited" an answer from the 'senior devotee' of the list,

I'll speak no more.

Blessed Sef,

I may be senior by age.

There are no initiations in advaita or to advaita.

All initiations are at dwaita level.

If you are intellectually convinced by the doctrine of advaita, you are

already initiated.

If not then you need to get convinced in the doctrin. By being a memeber of

this list serve you are in a way have opened your mind to the concepts of

advaita. Now it is your hands. Feel free to raise questions that are not

clear and by discussions one can get convinced on the truth of advaita.

Then you are initiated.

Hari Om!

Hello Sadananda,

In The Four Yogas by Swami Atmananda he explains the two part process of

Jnana Yoga. He states that first one has to learn and believe the

principals of advaita and then to meditate on those principals by meditation

on the 'self'. It appears that what you state below is also the first phase

of Jnana Yoga?

Namaste,

Linda
