I fully agree with your assessment regarding Tim's question and answers

that followed. Let me add some additional comments.

The cause for the duality between Head and Heart is also due to avidya

(ignorance). The ego resides on the Head and the Divinity resides in the

Heart. When the ego is very active (awake), the divine qualities become

inactive (sleeps) that when ego is fully awake. When humility is

present, the divinity takes control and the person with humility shows

his/her true human nature.

Tim's point is well taken and one does need to practice controlling the

ego in the head allow the divinity in the heart to shine.

Some people may kind words from the Head without any feeling in the

heart and even those people when they repeat the kind words again and

again, it can help them register kindness in their heart. Let me narrate

an Indian story illustrating this point and this was told by a friend of

mine and I do not know the source.

A thief by the name Bubu entered into a wealthy Kingdom to enhance his

business ventures. On entering the capital city of the Kingdom, he had a

conversation with a person Satyan on the road. Satyan told Bubu that

the Kingdom is suffering from drought and the King is trying desperate

steps to get the rain. Satyan told Bubu that all Holy men and women who

enter the city are received at the palace and they get the royal

treatment with good food and wealthy gifts. Bubu was thrilled by the

news and wanted to transfer himself immediately as a Holy-man! He went

to a barber shop, shaved his head and bought some cotton saffron cloths

to give a dignified look as a Holy-man. When Bubu entered the Palace he

was received by the guards and was taken directly to the King. The King

asked him where he is coming from and Bubu told the King that he comes

from an Ashram in Himalayas and he will make special prayers to get the

rains. The King was very pleased hearing that and asked his minister to

provide Bubu with a big house and other amenities. The next day there

was heavy rain in the city and King attributed the cause of the rain to

Bubu and he made a public announcement about the arrival of the

Holy-man and his divine power. Bubu suddenly became very famous and

thousands of people started coming to him every day to get advice and

blessings. This continued for several months and he became the talk of

the town and visitors started coming from all parts of the Kingdom and

from other Kingdoms. This has also created dramatic changes in the

attitude of Bubu. Bubu said to himself, "I am a thief and a crook. I

pretend to be a Holy man and even this pretension has brought so much

prosperity and peace to me and the people around me. If I sincerely,

change my behavior and become a Holy man, it can certainly bring lots

more peace and prosperity to everyone and hence I should change and

become a real Holy man!" Bubu suddenly disappeared from the city and he

went to an Ashram in Himalayas to become a real Holy man! In

conclusion, though the thought "Holy-man" originated in Bubu's head, it

finally culminated in his heart.

The moral behind the story is quite applicable to this list and the list

discussions. What starts from the Head has potential to become a

reality in the Heart and this belief is essential for all spiritual

seekers. To fly above the ground, the every airplane has to undertake

numerous steps on the ground and they become essential before the plane

take off. Aren't we in this List in a similar situation?
