Guest guest
Hari Om! I fully agree with the above subject. We can't understand advaita intellectually. iMdriyAni parANyAhuH iMdriyEbhaH paraM manaH manasastu parA buddhiH yO buddhE paratastu saH || 32-3 Sense organs are said to be greater than the physical body. The mind is greater than the sense organs. Intellect is greater than the mind and *that* is greater than the intellect. * Sense organs belong to the physical body --- which we can loose by means of any accident, or at death. Hence there is no truth in it. * Mind always doubts. I still remember certain situations where my mind had suspected that some thing will go wrong, where as things happened contrary. Hence there is no truth in it also. * Intellect judges only with the help of the previously available data. I knew a person named "X", who committed a mistake and sentenced to Jail 10 years ago. I did not meet X during the last 10 years. Today it happened that I met with the same X, and my intellect warns me to be careful with X. Where as in reality, X has completely changed. During the course of 10 years, he became saintly! It proves that there is no truth in intellect. All our Upanishads suggest that one has to go beyond the reasoning intellect. That is why -- opposite terms like "tadEjati" (that moves), "tannijati" (that doesn't move) are *used* in order to describe the indescribable. The only reason they did this is that the Vedic seers would like us to go beyond the intellect so that we could witness the truth. At first Intellect tries to understand the term "that moves" --- like "if it moves, then it should be moving from one place to another. In order to have movement, it should have a ground where it can stand or crawl, that makes it dependent on something. How come, that which is dependent on something is God!"... Ruling off the possibility of "that moves", the intellect again goes to understand the second term "that doesn't move" --- like "if it doesn't move, then that means, either it is dead or it doesn't have any space to move. That means it is all pervading. If it is all pervading then I must me either a part of it or I am it...".... Immense study / debate heats up our intellect. When the Intellect gets heated up, doing this infinite analysis, it stops at some time. At one point it reaches point called "critical system failure" or "a event horizon" .. There the truth which is beyond will be "WITNESSED". That is what is considered as "advaita sthiti" in Bhrahadaaranyaka. "tatrOpasamaM SivaM sAMtaM caturthaM *advaitaM* manyaMtE". Hari Om tatsat! Best Regards, Madhava P.S: I am really glad to be a part of this satsang. I am going on my vacation to India for 35 days. I shall participate again after I return. Thank you all.
