Guest guest
One of my friends has started posting these to our list which may be of interest to all. I would like to share a few verses from VAIRAGYA-SATAKAM or "100 Verses on Renunciation" of Bhartrihari. It is about renunciation, on the reasons for renouncing, rather than on the experience of the realized soul as is the ASTAVAKRA, but I find some of it very inspiring. Verse #7 Worldly pleasures have not been enjoyed by us, but we ourselves have been devoured. No religious austerities have been gone through, but we ourselves have become scorched. Time is not gone (being ever-present and infinite); it is we who are gone (because of approaching death). Desire is not reduced in force, though we ourselves are reduced to senility.
