Surprisingly the best parallel we can draw with modern Physics comes from

Samkhya Darshan which interestingly defined the universe as composed of

 

'Akash' and 'Prana'

 

Swami Vivekananda in his lectures (which were delivered before the age of

New Physics) had said: Akash is not space but -- All penetrating existence

itself. He said Prana can be understood as 'a disturbance in this

existence'. Loosely called 'energy'. With these two constituents you can

produce the entire universe 'physical and or mental' Everything belongs to

this realm except 'Purusha'. This ancient philosophy has a lot to offer

Modern science in terms of conceptual leap required to make sense of what it

is dealing with. Ideas of space, matter etc all become subsidiary in

relation to this analysis.
