Guest guest
Namaste: This may be of interest for those curious about Mahatmas and the non-dual state. It is from "Awaken Children, Vol. 5" of Mata Amritanandamayi: "Without love and compassion the world cannot exist. The whole of existence is indebted to the Mahatmas for the love and compassion they have showered on all creation. This creation and all the creatures in it are an expression of compassion. Those who have attained the state of Self-realization do not want to come down. They go beyond. They are in the beyond. They are the beyond. Beyond means the state of stillness, the state of Oneness. In that state, there is no motion and there is no thinking because there is no mind. To Feel compassion and to feel love, a mind or a thought is needed, a sankalpa (divine intention) is required. So from the thoughtless state of 'no-mind,' from the motionless state of stillness, Mahatmas come a step down, maybe not one, but several steps down, because of their concern for those who are helpless and groping in darkness. They have never wanted to come down. Why should they when they are one with eternity? Why should they bother about others? Why should consciousness be concerned with the created world? The fact is there are no concerns in that state of Oneness; there are no feelings in that state. There is neither compassion nor lack of compassion. A mind is created to feel compassion, to feel love, and to be concerned about suffering humanity. By Self-will they create a body to express compassion and love to the human plane of consciousness. Why do they do this? What for? Have you ever thought about it? They do that only to create the spirit of love and compassion in you."
