How is the jeeva rejuvenated by deep sleep ?

namaste. It is nice to be back on the List again. Over the past two

weeks, I am still thinking about the last topic of discussion on

wake-up, dream and deep-sleep states.

The thing that amazes me is the rejuvenation the jeeva feels after a

deep sleep (Here I am assuming it is the same jeeva in this embodiment

from birth to death, which I questioned in another post). After deep

sleep, the jeeva is fresh with renewed energy and ready to tackle the

wake-up state problems with full vigour. Where has this dose of energy

come from ? The typical modern explanation we hear is that the physical

body recuperates from its tiredness which it has before deep sleep, and

after deep sleep, is able to function again at its full strength.

I do not think that is the full explanation. We see not only the

physical body, but we see the mind and the intellect also gaining

full strength. The explanation cannot be just the rest doing good to

the physical body. There is some rejuvenation of the spirit taking

place during deep sleep.

Have any members given any thought to this topic anytime ? Is there

any explanation beyond the physical body recuperation ? Is there any

advaita prakaraNagrantha or upanishadic reference to this thinking

anywhere ? I will be most obliged for any input.
