Guest guest
namaste. Some observations about how we see the world. 1. When the life experiences show us the inevitability of suffering in the world, only then, the upanishads and the words of the sages move our hearts and we pay attention to them. We seek consciously for the Eternal among the non-eternals of life. We try to overcome the world. What is this world we try to overcome? Where is this world? We can easily see that we create this world in our own minds. The hurt and the pleasure we feel in the world is all in our own mind. I recently came across a statement attributed to Professor Whitehead, the great western philosopher-scientist and I quote: "... nature gets credit which should in truth be reserved to ourselves- the rose for its scent, the nightingale for its song, the Sun for its radiance. The poets are entirely mistaken; they should address their lyrics to themselves and should turn them into odes of self-congratulation on the excellency of the human mind. Nature is a dull affair, soundless, scentless, colourless ...." It is amazing how differently each of us sees this universe. A wise man and a spiritually ignorant man both live in the same world. Both are subject to hunger, disease, pain and physical death. Yet, both see the world entirely differently.
