Hi,

My name is Hari Kumar & I am a new member of this list.

I suppose I am required to say a few words about myself prior

to posting anything here. I am really sorry that I was tempted to

send my little contribution (a spiritual poem - A touch of the Ocean)

without giving any formal introduction.

Other than my deep interest in Science and Spirituality,

I really don't have much to say about myself. I am neither

a master in Vedanta nor a Sanskrit scholar. But I honestly

do not think that mastering the Vedas would necessarily

grant one complete knowledge. On the contrary,

I think that it would only make one miss the forest for

the trees.

What has probably propelled me to Advaitic thought was

my deep yearning for Truth. Or may be it was the fact,

that I hail from the same proud soil of Kerala which

gave the world the unequalled genius of Shri Shankara.

Moreover, my scientific background, and my mercilessly

and untiringly inquiring mind could not be sated by the

"fix-all" philosophys of other schools of thought. On the

other hand Advaita stood like a brilliant Sun in a candle-flame

field. It answered my every probing query to complete

satisfaction.

The only other philosophy, or should I say Science, which equal

Advaita in giving all the answers, though from a different perspective, is

... Mathematics. I would go to the extent of calling Mathematics as

Symbolic Advaita and Advaita as Lyrical Mathematics. Oops! I think

I better stop before my paragraph becomes an essay!

Any way please do visit my website at :

where I have discussed similar things.

Thank you

Hari Kumar

Welcome Hari to Advaitin List:

Thanks for this formal introduction and your informal introductory poem was

beautiful. The list is looking forward to your insightful comments, poems and

questions.
