Guest guest
namaste. I trust I will be permitted to make the following observation and the ensuing suggestion. Our List has been a model List on the internet with debates conducted in a very civil fashion with mutual respect. This has been stated not only by the participants but other watchers of the internet debates as well. Of late, members seem to be expressing their views fairly forcefully and there may be instances where a tinge of disrespect towards the other participant might have been claimed to have crept in. This is just a general advice that members take a minute before they hit the SEND key on their keyboard to make sure that the language used is not hurtful. I always remember Swami Chinmayanandaji's statement (which he made at a discourse) that every statement is true at the level of understanding at which it is made. This is particularly true of our subject matter, the advaita. We are always ascending from a lower truth to a higher truth, but it is still the truth nevertheless at that level of understanding. I would hope that members keep that in mind in their debates. This is not to stifle any debate. After all, debate with mutual respect, is the best way we will be ascending to the highest truth. I don't know who you refer to, or just perhaps to the general thread regarding Gurus, but it appears that the thread is essentially exhausted. I tend to be a bit forceful in my posts, but always trying not to ever be disrespectful. Here is Ram Chandran's view on my postings: >>Hari Om Tim: >> >>Everyone seems to love your postings and please respond as you >>please. You have full freedom to express your viewpoints and whether >>someone agrees with you or not. When exchanges are expressed with >>love then the question of disrespect will not arise. Until we know >>the Truth, everything is just a speculation! >> >>regards, >> >>Ram Anyway, thank you for the reminder. I don't usually post much to this list, but if you ever feel I am crossing the line from "forceful" to "disrespectful," I would appreciate to be immediately notified by personal Email so I can tone down my posts. Sometimes I don't know how forceful I'm being, but I do know I have a general tendency to post in that way. That's my nature, to be very direct and forthright, sometimes sacrificing "politesse" on the altar of truth. However, I don't EVER wish to cross the line to offensiveness.
