Thanks ashish for the sayana bashyam on the 'Ekam Sat..'. From the sayana

bashyam, I get to understand that 'Truth is one. Sages call that truth by

many names' is traditional translation. My anvaya of 'Ekam Sat bahuda

Vipraha vadanti' will be okay only if I add 'Ekam Sat Bahuda (*bhavathi

iti*) vipraha vadanti'. Also, the subsequent listing of names of devatas,

in the original vedic text suggests that 'calling by many names' translation

is more appropriate. 'Bahuda' is an Avyaya used in an adverbial sense. So

it goes with 'Vadanti'. So, the Sat taken as 2nd case singular (not 1st

case singular, as I took), 'truth is one..' translation is correct. The

traditional explanation is that one can have different Ista Devatas. That

still does not say that there are many ways for Moksha. I was wrong in

saying that the 'Truth is one ..' translation is wrong. But, taking support

of this verse to justify that there are 'many means of moksha' is also not

valid, which was my point even in my first posting.
