I welcome your sweetness and insights to this list (Note to listers - I

have the pleasure of knowing Colette from the Nonduality Salon). Thank you

for the quotes.

 

You comment on how others learn not to resist the gift of no-thought, and

said that transcendence was not enough. Stabilization also happens. I

think I see what you're saying here, that transcendence itself is like a

big "free sample" of no-thought. What then??!??

 

Forgive me for the everyday-language, non-Shankaran way of expression here.

But this kind of expression does happen accord with the tradition of a

great teacher, Krishna Menon.

 

In my case, there were several years of spontaneous and heated meditation

on just the point you raise - no-thought/no-object-of-thought[Note]. Then

came the repeated deep insight that no-thought was definitely *not* some

kind of state or condition that would come and go, giving the free sample

and then taking it away. Rather, the insights came that no-thought is

timelessly the case. And then, one time, while I was reading a profound

passage from Krishna Menon, it was spontaneously seen that *thought could

NEVER be and never is*. After that, there was no space or gap between the

timelessness of no-thought, and so the insights about its ever-presence

themselves stopped happening.

 

 

[Note:][by "no-thought" I'm mean short-hand for "no-feeling,no-object of

sense," no-object-of-cognition,no-experience" and all the rest of the

ways we speak of appearances.]

Being? I wasn't able to just get it from transcendence. Transcendence will

reveal the Self, but then the human psyche fears & resists dissolution into

new becoming.
