Guest guest
At the extreme, some mosquito bites are fatal and some desires have similar effects. Dhruyodhana, Ravana and many more characters of Ithihasa and Puranas illustrate why attachment to desires (bites) can be fatal. More recently, we have witnessed Hitler and Musolini who suffered a similar fate. The eradication of mosquitos using DDT has brought new dangers and scientists find it difficult to remove all the DDT residuals from the soil and the environment! Any attempt to eradicate desires through intellectual means is likely to have adverse side effects! We have to adopt the spiritual life of detachment to tackle this problem and that is the subtle message. Ram Chandran
