The example that you quoted is quite relevant. Some spiritual growth happens

as we grow from childhood to adulthood. For several others, we have to

cultivate spiritual habits (mosquito nets) to prevent desires to have an

effect on us. Your example did confirm that it is just possible. This is the

reason that I said that we can't eradicate the desires but only can eradicate

the ill effects of desires through spiritual sadhana.

Having lived for awhile on an island with a bay on one side of the island,

there was a lot of mosquito experience :-). It is interesting as there are

many ways to experience this.

One is that after living for awhile, one comes to ignore the mosquitos and

their bites, and as one does that the mosquitos stop biting. The second

is that if one eats alot of sugar the mosquitos begin biting again. So,

it seems that in the calm one lets go and the net is no longer needed

as one begins to flow in harmony with the environment.

I remember in my 20s, having finished studying at the university, I

finally had some money again and when I was sad I would go shopping

and buy some *thing* beautiful. But the *thing* never made me feel

better for more than a few minutes. So, I came to notice in my mid-

twenties that the *desire* for stuff was unending and there was no

satiation possible. I then let my desires flow out in other directions

and found that in these directions also my desires couldn't be

satiated.

Now exercise, like meditation, initially did not bring satiation, but did

lift my mood and my energy throughout the day, so, I began to

observe how this state was different than a non-exercised or non-

meditated state, that the emoting of the rollercoaster would cease

and was replaced by more and more stillness, silence and calm. There

was a more even-keeled serenity and more energy available for

observation.

As this occurred, one began to learn to flow with energy and allow

disharmonious energy to flow-through or to simply stay out of storms.

Or, observe mind in such a manner as to witness when disharmonious

thoughts caused such things as disease in one's body, so that those

thoughts needed attention and movements to resolution.

Mosquito thoughts :-) Love*Light*Laughter,
