It is apparently of chinese origin. "One day I found myself dreaming that I was a butterfly , flying Hither and Thither perfectly happy in my state as a butterfly. When, all at once I found myself awake lying on my bed . Now I, Chaung Tsu want to know if I am now a man who dreamt then , that I was a butterfly , or am I now a butterfly dreaming that I am a man ?
