Guest guest
prasad jonnal [devi] Friday, November 19, 1999 8:23 AM advaitin thoughts running through my mind Advaitam is one of the hardest philosophies to comprehend. I have not studied it much--so my interpretation of it is very simple. There is no separation between God and me--you, him, it--etc. With this simple and powerful understanding--sometimes my mind questions--"if there is nothing separating me and God--what other separation exists in this world?" What other difference exists?--What other spirituality is there except Universality or Oneness? Then, where is the scope for any other differences? What is good and what is bad-?-Why are they different and separate? We want to teach good things to our children. Why do they learn bad things? Will every child who is taught good things become good? Will every child taught to do bad really do so? There is no one to teach anything to some unfortunate orphaned children. Who teaches them the right things? Each child is influenced by someone in his life--in both good and bad ways--who controls that? Each of us is introduced to a Guru - a teacher--to guide us in the path already chosen or destined. As each of us continues our earthly journey, we encounter various gurus--teachers who make us aware of what we already know--just open the door to the knowledge that we are universal. They make us aware of it.They help us accept our differences. Once accepted, the differences cease to exist. So plurality becomes nonexistent. Similarly, till there is an ego-filled 'I'ness--there is duality. Advaitam can exist only without the egoless 'I'. If one says "I am God"--there is still the duality, even when unity is emphasised. When one understands that he is the manifestation of God--given a human body to fulfill God's purposes--that seems to be the total 'Oneness' we want to achieve. At this point there is no good or bad--everything just IS .We don't have to go and look for a guru--everything opens up clearly and gets understood simply. No questions--no quests-no requests. Moment by moment we all move along in our paths. As we move on, we observe the universe as it is--not as how we want it to be. We laugh at things or we cry--but we feel for each other and we experience everything. The 'fear of passiveness of just acceptance and doing nothing about it' is removed as we experience everything. These are just thoughts rushing through the mind. They are not intended to be controversial or critical of anyone.
