Hari Om Advaitins:

I strongly recommend everyone of you to visit the recently updated Web Site of

Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. It contains an ocean of information related to Advaita

Philosophy and several of Shankara's work. Those who have multimedia computers,

can enjoy authentic chanting of Slokas which can calm your mind and lighten your

spirit. It is not an easy task for me to describe the ocean of materials that

are available there and you have sail the ocean to see its beauty!

I am also happy to report that Shri Venkatesh the creator of this informative

homepage has also joined our list and he will share with us from time to time

about new materials and messages from the Peetam. I want to thank Shri

Venkatesh on behalf of this list for his unselfish and dedicated service to the

universal humanity. He is quite unassuming and we are quite fortunate get the

company of a karma yogi such as Shri Venkatesh.

I can assure you that you will enjoy the pilgrimage of visiting this holy

homepage with messages from the sage of Kanchi.

Happy Holidays,

Ram Chandran

Ok. So far so good. I would like to ask one more question. Who is the personal

deity? Whatever conception you have of your personal deity be it Durga devi,

Shiva , Krishna, Budha, Christ ,you impose the restrictions of your ego on them

because they are your thoughts.

So in other words whichever deity you are meditating on is really nothing but

your conceptions and your ideals. Is'nt that a limitation and a play of the ego

itself ?

How do you know the deity without being limited by our mind ?'

Thanks Anand. Now I see the value of not knowing I was delicately chanting for

the support of a deity while repeating my mantra. This allowed the primordial

sound to be transcended effortlessly, as my ego mind had no meaning assigned to,

it to cling to or ponder.

Thank you very much Ramji for sharing the information. Jagadguru

Paramacharya Sri Chandrasekharendraji has been real inspiration to many

advaitis... I always hold high in my heart swamiji's grace and his

conviction towards practicing the eternal dharma!

My father used to take us on pilgrimage every once in an year. Once we went

to Kanchi for the darshan of swamiji. Swamiji was performing pooja, after

which he came out and gave darshan. My father, my mother, myself and my two

sisters, we all went and stood in front of him for blessings. Swamiji

looked at me and asked "what would you like to study?" though I don't know

much about computers, I told him that I wanted to learn computers. Swamiji

asked me what is a computer... I told him that computer is a machine that

can do many things! Swamiji looked at me for some time and then looked at

his aide and asked him "what is a computer?" He whispered something in

Swamiji's ears, Swamiji smiled and looked at me and then at my father. We

are supposed to stand in front of Swamiji with out our wearing our shirts.

Noticing that I am not wearing the sacred thread (yagnOpavita) swamiji asked

my father "why didn't you perform upanayana for your boy?", my father stood

there with great respect. "you are not supposed to delay initiation" swamiji

told my father as if scolding a school boy! My father shivered a bit by

this question, in a very low tone he replied "yes swamiji I am thinking of

performing it, please bless him..." For which swamiji smiled and instructed

"perform his upanayana at Srisailam..." As instructed my parents performed

my upanayana (initiation of gayatri mantra) at Srisailam, the sacred shrine

of my beloved Lord Shiva! I always consider this as a boon as well as

blessing of paramacharya. He knows that I adore Lord Shiva!
