Yes, such a discussion may very well be as much an inspiration for young advaitins (such as myself) as advice can be. By seeing the possible pathways that have opened up to others, it is possible to see one's own. >Therefore Advaita begins where practice ends. >If even Advaita >is sought to be `practised' (as by a `doer'), >then the whole idea >becomes self-defeating and there is even the >possibility of subtler >forms of delusion in which the `one' thinks >that `he' has disappeared >as a result of `his' practice (delusion worse >confounded). Isn't it just as much of a disappearance of a doer as it is a spreading of the focus of consciousness to include other beings as well, a direct sharing of the different energies of desire and a "resolution" of these or a dissolving of the single characteristics into this light of consciousness ? >(Let me add that practices done to calm or >steady the mind and >so on are perfectly valid just as physical >exercises performed to improve the body). I very much agree with you on this. A steady and healthy mind and a healthy body is very conducive to spriritual studies. Illness and lack of concentration / interest certainly are not.
