Guest guest
~*~ Verse 13 Chapter 5 Bhagavad Gita (Translation ~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi) ~Having renounced all action by the mind, the dweller in the body rests in happiness, in the city of nine gates, neither acting nor causing actions to be done.~ Mind is the link between the action & the actor, the self. As long as the mind is one sided, subjected only to activity and without the direct influence of Being, it fails to be a successful mediator. It fails to safeguard the freedom of the self from the influence of actions, & at the same time fails to safeguard action from the limitations of individuality, so that activity remains without the direct support of the almighty power of nature. This verse explains how the mind can become a successful mediator & bring strength, grace & glory to action & freedom to life. The mind has to become as familiar with Being as it is with activity, & for this to happen it has first to come out of the field of activity & enter the sphere of Being. The present verse describes how, once out of the field of action, the mind finds itself as the Self, completely unattached to activity, ever remaining in the absolute state, 'in happiness', a silent witness (sakshi~kutastha) of all events, 'neither acting nor causing action to be done.' 'In happiness' : happiness lies beyond the range of activity, where the 'self is touched by external contacts'. Once it has reacehd this state, the mind knows the truth of the relationship of the doer with his actions & with their fruits, which is proclaimed in the next verse." MMY Hmm I wonder why its called the city of nine gates? Byee now, Luv, Col
