Namaskaaram !

Guru Bhakti is one of my most favourite topics. i am somewhat sensitive to

it, so i just could not help myself bringing two minor excerpts to this

list. Both have hyperlinks to the relevant pages.

Excerpt 1:

His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi on Guru Bhakthi

(Devotion to the Guru):

(this is a chapter from Acharya's call at

http://www.kamakoti.org/menumain.htm?cat=other&level=1&code=acall )

....

Guru is Isvara in human form, but who is, however, free from the triple

functions of creation, preservation and destruction, which pertain only to

Isvara. If we have absolute faith in him, the Guru will dower us with all

for which we go to God. In fact, God is needed only when we cannot find a

guru. Guru-Bhakti is even higher and more efficacious than Daiva-bhakti.

Sri Vedanta Desika has declared that he does not consider God higher than

Guru.

....

Excerpt 2:

The importance of Guru Bhakti, by His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Jayendra

Saraswati: http://www.kamakoti.org/souv/1-2.html

excerpt:

It is said that Guru(preceptor) is greater than God, devotion to preceptor

is more meritorious than that to God. If we ask why, the answer is that God

has not been seen by any one, But the preceptor is present here and now

before us. If a Preceptor who is immaculate and pure, full of wisdom and

steadiness of vision completely free from weakness, were available to us,

the mental peace in search of which we pray to God is at our reach by

devotion to the preceptor. Hence it is declared

"Gurur - Brahma Gurur - Vishnuh Guru -devo Maheswarah Gurur - sakshat Param

Brahma Tasmai Sri Gurave namah"

best regards

Venkatesh

"Constantly think of what you are, what you want to be, and

what you should do to bridge the gap. Even this thinking will

be beneficial to you. "
