Guest guest
Greetings Ram, SELF as a rider in a chariot (The Witness) Body is the chariot. Intellect is the charioteer. Mind is the brake. Horses are the senses. The paths of the chariot are the sense objects. The destination is Brahman! what I find extraordinary about this is that Arjuna is the rider in the chariot (or the Lord of chariot in Radhakrishnan's rendition) and Krishna is the charioteer so Arjuna = atman and Krishna = buddhi (!) I actually think it is possible to read the Gita this way so the question is are there any interpretations along these lines? Guest guest
Greetings: I don't know any interpretation along this line but it is quite conceivable to develop a logic along this line. However, any such conceptualization need to be consistent with the established definitions of 'Atman' and 'Buddhi. It will be difficult because, it is like putting the cart before the horse! According to Vedanta, the Atman is the invisible spirit guiding the subtle mind. If the Buddhi is the light bulb, Atman is the electricity and there will be no light without the electricity! regards, Ram Chandran pkenny Reply-to: advaitin 12 Jan 2000 15:53:11 -0000 >pkenny > >what I find extraordinary about this is that Arjuna is the rider in the chariot >(or the Lord of chariot in Radhakrishnan's rendition) and Krishna is the charioteer >so Arjuna = atman and Krishna = buddhi (!)
