Dear All, Thank you all for sending personal e-mails expressing concern about Swamini amma's health. My humble apologies to you for the silence all these days. I was in India at the divine presence of my teacher H.H.Swamini Saradapriyananda. She is undergoing treatment at Madras for a disease called "aplastic anemia". At present her condition is stable, and doctors have advised her to refrain strictly from doing any kind of work. How ever, she is using this leisure time in translating gurudev Swamy Chinmayananda's commentary on Holy Gita in to telugu language. Amma's condition is quite fragile. Hence, the devotees are asked to see her from a long distance. They could see amma from a window, they could converse with her from a distance. How ever, my teacher gave an exception to me, I wore a protective mask and went inside and talked to amma in person for quite a few times. Giving below are few lessons that I learned from my divine teacher during the stay at Madras. * When I requested her to refrain from doing translation work, she told me that the body is born to work... and she asked me "In case, I stop at doctors advise from doing this work, how long do you think this body survives? One day is final...that day this body has to undergo the decay... before that time approaches one needs to do good work. Some of the saints do not choose to give a comfortable death to the body for example Sri Ramakrishna paramahamsa, Sri Ramana maharshi made their bodies suffer. * One of the devotees called Chellamma started weeping out loud. Her grandson has been cured from a disease which doctors believed as incurable! Chellamma says that it is Swamini amma who performed the miracle healing. Chellamma asked "Amma! you brought my grandson back from graveyard. If you want, you could cure your body. Amma, I beg you.... please for our sake cure your body...". For this Swamini amma replied "All that you think is a great illusion called eesvara maya, your thinking that I cured somebody is also a part of the illusion. I know that my body is an illusion. Hence, I would never ask for my body. Body has to go, and it should go, some how or the other." Chellamma did not understand the higher message, but started weeping again thinking that Swamini amma is refusing to get cured... * Lots of swamis from around the world, from Chinmaya Mission and other missions, are coming and paying their respect amma. Day before yesterday (10-1-2000) H.H.Swamy Tejomayananda (Head of Central Chinmaya Mission Trust) arrived from USA. He came on a special journey to see Swamini Amma. Swamy Brahmananda (From Chinmaya Mission, Bangalore) was also around at that time. Both have been asked to see swamini amma in her room. Only me, Swamini Seelananda (next to Swamini amma at Chinmayaranyam), Swamy Tejomayananda, Swamy Brahmananda were in the room in the presence of Swamini Amma. At that time Swamy Tejomananadaji has asked amma to get well soon. For which Swamini amma smilingly replied "according to all astrologers I have to live only for 47 years! Now I have outlived for more than 25 years. What ever life I am living now is the grace of the Guru. For he is the one who is prolonging my life." Swamini Amma at that point introduced me to Swamy Tejomananda saying that I am one of the moderators to the Advaitin group and she also is a member... Then I explained him briefly about Advaitin group and I sought the blessings for the geeta satsang. I also told him that we are posting Swamy Chinmayanda's commentary. He was happy to hear that and readily gave his blessings. Amma told me that she read Sri Gummaluru Murthy's question on mahavakyas, and also questions from other members, she will reply to them soon. She expressed her satisfaction on the way the discussions are going on in this group. It was my pleasure to meet personally poojya Sri Sadanandaji (one of the moderators of this group) at Madras. I felt blessed. Sadanandaji told me that he is facing some problems in connecting to the INTERNET. We can expect his contributions again in a few weeks. I have a lot of mail to catch up. Also there is a lot of good news for you on the anvil, regarding gita satsang. I shall write to you again in two days. I pray the Almighty to bless me by keeping my teacher as healthy as possible. "advaitaM trishu lOkEshu nAdvaitaM gurnAsaha" advaita should be experienced in all three states, but not in the physical presence of your own guru...
