Guest guest
[A STORY] Once upon a time, two beggars were living in a town. They beg regularly and sleep under the shelter of an abandoned house. One day one of those beggars had a wonderful dream. He woke up with a wonderful feeling and couldn't resist the temptation. He very much wanted to share his dream with the other beggar. So he woke up the other beggar from his sleep. The other beggar woke and asked what is it... "Look! I had a wonderful dream..." said this beggar "What did you dream about?" questioned the other beggar, obviously annoyed about the disturbance.. "I dreamt that I went to 64 houses to beg and at each house I got different kinds of dishes... I came back to this place and ate everything stomach full... I never had a chance to beg my bowl full. In my dream I fulfilled my desire"... Even before he completed his dream narration, the other beggar slapped this fellow very hard! saying: "YOU FOOL! IF it were just a dream then why didn't you dream of being a mighty king and eating food cooked by your own servants at your own palace? Why should you behave like a beggar even in your dreams?".... [END OF STORY... By the way, draw your own conclusions...] * We are bound by our own emotions and imaginations. When you want to travel from some place to other --- why do you think of either traveling by car, bus, train or a plane? why can't you think of any other means! why can't you think of lifting in the air and traveling just thus with out these known instruments? It is because we are bound to our own known world. We think that the world is far apart. We think that there is a lot of space... * Desire and Imagination is expanding the world... In 1700 people wished that they flew! That desire made imaginations and now we fly! Imagine the supreme soul, you being the almighty.... tatvamasi.... how could you achieve it? get rid of the known rationalism. Go beyond the known world, imagine something higher, which you can't comprehend. * No matter how much intellectually you understand advaita and other philosophies, as long as you keep away from contemplation and xperience --- every thing is a waste. A trained parrot could also repeat verses, a trained intellect could beautifully dichotomize philosophy, but a pure experiencing heart only can transcend the illusion of maya. Transcending every known thing is the ultimate goal for any true seeker. * Do not think that you are bound by your own wife and children, for you are ever free from everything in the world. Realization does not mean you move from one place to the other. You move nowhere, liberation is now-here... * Try to do meditation regularly * Try to contemplate on holy scriptures * Try to read the life stories of great men. Inspiration dawns in many ways... * Try to visit temples as often as you could. Do not just think that the idol in the sanctum sanatorium is a mere stone... The idols are as much alive as you and me. Have a vision and try to speak to them. They come to life, they could talk to you. They can share their pleasure and pain (yes! they also do have pain) to you. Open yourself to a different vision. The idol vanishes and the spirit behind gets revealed... * Try to understand the higher reality of life. What ever appears to you as higher, know that there is something higher than that. * Where ever you are, try to lead your life peacefully. Make a point, but do not quarrel, for it leads you nowhere! * Remember to be deserved in order to desire anything. -Madhava 1-15-2000, 5AM
