Guest guest
The present day science is very much a pseudo-materialistic belief system. A vast majority of scientists today are quite satisfied with the ideas offered via say - the theory of creation as explained by the 'big bang model' - the theory of evolution as suggested by Darwin. - the theory of 'consciousness' as a by-product of a computer made of meat (brain). - the ideas of morality as expressed via 'social sciences' (group dynamics). All these ideas are strongly based on a 'materialistic' approach. They all fall back on trying to explain 'reality' by reductionism (mathematical approach). Explain everything via - matter (and the energies associated with this matter). 'Spirituality' as a subject has a difficult task ahead if it is to survive the next millennium. Any thoughts on this subject? jay Vivekananda Centre London

Guest guest
'science, scientific' have become value-loaded words. Science is a mathematico-deductive methodolgy to verify hypotheses and discover/invent new concepts to help prediction, control and improvement of non-human and human environment.Nobody can deny its amazing achievements. It was invented, nurtured, and flourished in western soil and by recent globalization is dominating non-western cultures. Scientists as a class have shown above average sense of responsibility. Materialism worries me not so much as a theory as an attitude manifested in consumerism and hankering after 'good life'. Modern technology have increased the mayik lures for the spiritually struggling ego thousand times. But it has also opened new venues like this website. ______________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
