judge or reach the Self.

but consider the Katha Upanishad I.3.12

The Self, though hidden in all beings,

does not shine forth but can be seen by

those subtle seers through

their sharp and subtle intelligence

(buddhi).

and the Gita VI.21

That [the Self] in which he knows that

which is boundless happiness,

Beyond the senses but perceivable by

understanding (buddhi),

And in which, established,

He knows this and swerves not from the

truth;

Namaste Patrickji,

What is spoken of is the Buddhi or Chetana not the mind or the

intellect as we know it. That mind made one pointed by constant practise loses

its attachment to the senses. Once attachment to the senses is lost, the Buddhi

is clean and not clouded. So one reverts to the Mind and Self discussion, that

the purified mind is the Self and the unrealized Atman is what we call mind.

Kathopanishad mentions Seer Or Rishi. Rishi is defined as a Mantra

Drashta ,one who has realized the meaning behind Mantras or who sees the

Mantras.

Regards,

Anand
