I am not sure if you are in the advaitin list - otherwise Shree Harshaji

can redirect my response.

-----------------------

"What is that?" - That is - I am - tat twam asi - you are that! is the

vedic declation!

That is the inquirer, the subject. you cannot make him into an object

since he is there as a subject in trying to make himself as an object!

YOu cannot negate him and you can not objectify him. Since he has to remain

as a subject who is doing the negation process or who is doing the

objectification process.

Hence subject cannot be an object.

Object cannot be the subject either since object is jadam or inert and

inert thing cannot be a subject that is doing the inquiry or that is doing

objectification!

The analysis of this aspect is exptensively provided by Shankara in his

"dRik dRishya Viveka' - Inquiry into seer and the seen.
