Guest guest
Swami Vivekananda's reliance on the Almighty In the course of his tour of India before leaving for the west, Swamiji sometimes used to travel by train. On one such occassion , he found himself besides a marwari business man. This businessman constantly taunted swamiji, a young strong man instead of working for his livelihood is wasting his life by begging. Swamiji said nothing and allowed the person to continue with his taunts. Presently both of them alighted on the same railway platform. The platform happened to be very small and it was mid noon. The marwari promptly occupied the shaded region and opened his cloth bag to have his lunch. He looked at Swamiji sitting in the sun , hungry and tired and told Him, that he was able to enjoy his lunch because he worked hard whereas swamiji was a monk and had to live by begging. Some time passed. Presently Swami Vivekananda saw another man coming with a big bundle of food and a floor mat tucked under his arm. This man came running to Swamiji and told him ,Sir, Sir , here is your lunch. I hope havent kept you waiting long. Swamiji was taken aback. He said, "You probably have got the wrong man. I don t even know you ".The unknown man said, "No .No. You are the person to whom I was asked to give the lunch to. You see, this afternoon while I was taking my nap, my Ishta devata, Sri Ramachandra Bhagavan came in my dream and told me that I am to feed you in this station. However it being a dream, I forgot it and slept again. But this same dream was repeated 3 times. Then I thought there must be something to it. So I came running with my lunch packed and here you were". Swamiji very happily had his meal and thanked the Lord for taking care of those who depend on Him. Swami Vivekananda used to also walk long distances, often without any food. Once he took a vow that he would not eat unless someone voluntarily offered him food without asking. Thus passed one day. Soon a second day was passed without any food and there was no sign of anyone offering Him any food. As he was trudging along foot sore and tired , on the second day evening , He suddenly heard a voice behind Him, "Swamiji Swamji wait !" . He looked back to see a man running toward him with a bundle of food under one arm and a floor mat on the other. Swamiji also started to run and tried to evade this man. However being tired, the man quickly caught hold of swamiji, forcefully made him sit , eat his food and having finished his duty , He vanished. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A FREE web-based e-mail service brought to you by the PC World Technology Network.
