Guest guest
Namaste, This statement fits an 'ideal' situation. Even then, those who have studied under recognised 'Gurus' have produced different interpretations! [from Shankara to our own day!] This 'svAdhyAya' can be a preparation for us eventually to meet such a Teacher. All that is required is a sincerity in the purpose of the study, and acceptance of the limits of language/logic/&c. Ref: Gita X:10 & 11: teshhaa.n satatyuktaanaM bhajataaM priitipuurvakam.h . dadaami buddhiyoga.n ta.n yena maamupayaanti te .. To them, ever steadfast and serving Me with affection, I give that Buddhi-Yoga by which they come unto Me. teshhaamevaanukaMpaarthamahamaj~naanaja.n tamaH . naashayaamyaatmabhaavastho j~naanadiipena bhaasvataa .. Out of mere compassion for them, I, abiding in their hearts, destroy the darkness born of ignorance, by the luminous lamp of knowledge. Guest guest
HariH Om Jaishankarji: Namaskaram, I am glad to see you back and I agree with your statement, "Now if we read Gita by ourselves there will be a tendency to only take what we are looking for in Gita and not what Gita is revealing to us." This statement is quite relevant in the context of Gita Satsang. This is a great opportunity for those who are well proficient in Vedas, Upanishads and Gita such as Jaishankarji to participate and guide the Satsang. I am looking forward to his more active participation and contribution. Those who don't know Jaishankarji, he has undergone several years of formal training under Swami Dayananda Saraswati. Jahishankarji is very knowledgeable and I welcome him on behalf of all the members, regards, Ram Chandran Note: Sri Madhavaji, the coordinator of Gita Satsang is currently on a vacation trip and he will be back next week. Guest guest
Hari Om Sunderji: Namaste, Thanks for bringing to the attention of the list members another important aspect of Gita Satsang. By the way, I haven't endorsed only that specific statement which fits well with the goals of the Satsang. Gita Satsang is quite popular in all Vedantic Missions and they are quite informal. It is a good idea to have direct guidance from a Guru, but in the modern context, it is not always possible. Just reading Gita is definitely better than not reading! All interepretations are subject to further interpretations as we have seen from Shankar's time. Learning is a time consuming process and also finding the right Guru is not always easy. I was more interested to ask those who have undergone necessary training such as Jaishankarji to actively participate in the Gita Satsang. Satsang benefits the teacher as well as students and students and teachers reverse their roles in an ideal Satsang. The goal of Gita Satsang of Advaitin List to be an ideal open Satsang with free exchange of ideas! Each of us can motivate others when we get tired disinterested. This does happen more happen and postings such as yours is quite helpful to keep the members interested, regards, Ram Chandran
Guest guest
Correction to my previous posting: I wanted to say that " I have endorsed only a specific statement which fits well with goal of ths Satsang." In advertantly, I wrote, "I haven't endorsed only ......." My apology for the error, regards, Ram Chandran --- Ram Chandran <ramvchandran wrote: > Hari Om Sunderji: > > Namaste, > > Thanks for bringing to the attention of the list > members another important aspect of Gita Satsang.
