Guest guest
To; Advaitin Onelist & Gita Satsang. HARI OM I learnt with much sadness the news of departure of the soul from the mortly coil of Swamini SharadaPriyananda on 17th April. She was one of the first batch of disciples of Paramaguru Swami Chinmayananda. Later on she founded the Chinamayaranyam Ashram near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The Ashram is unique in the sense that it caters to about 100 orphans, educates them and help them settle in life. Most of the beneficiaries are children from the economically and socially weaker sections of the society. The ashram also looks after new breed of Orphans in India, elederly parents who are spurned away from homes by their own children. The main acitivity of the ashram however remains formal training in Vedic scriptures for both male and female discipiles. The housing and other facilities are spartan and conducive to focus on spiritual matters. She was a prolofic writer of several vedantic books in English, Telugu and Hindi. My own favourite is " Vedanta in everyday life" which is just 60 odd pages. I read a chapter every day which takes about 3 minutes but keeps me thinking the whole day. I take this occassion to express my pranams and sincere thanks to Swaminiamma, as she was fondly called, for introducing me to the basic concepts of Vedanta and warning me in advance that the path to be traveled is a long one. Her superior intellect, clear communication and caring for the weak has endeared to all, creating a natural respect and affection. If only I could keep on travelling in the path shown by her, I would do myself and herself a great favor. She will be everpresent in the memory and hearts of those who knew her. I join her other admirers in praying for her SOUL. P.B.Varadharajan ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
