Namaste Erica,

The section "What The Thunder Said"[about 60 lines] in the poem The

Wasteland, refers to an allegorical passage from the Brihadaranyaka

Upanishad [V:ii:1,2,3].

My name is Erica and I am a religion major at Stonehill College in MA. I am

researching a topic for one of my classes and I was looking for any

information you might be able to give me. I am researching the references

Greetings:

T.S. Elliot's controversial poem, Wasteland details

the journey of the human soul searching for

redemption. The Waste Land is known not only for its

probing subject matter but also for its radical

departure from traditional poetic style. The idea of

Hinduism is implanted and hidden with a touch of

symbolism.

This is good research topic and the researcher should

take time read and unearth the hidden philosophical

message of the poem.

Good Luck!
