Guest guest
Namaste, Yoga implies union of two entities; what is the individual trying to achieve by karma if there is no Ishvara? Ramana Maharshi's remark is based on the paradoxical phrase 'asparsha yoga' [ vide Gaudapada karikaa III:39, and IV:2 ], and saakshi bhaava implies total unity, and not union. Guest guest
May I differ in opinion? Karma Yoga need not require the recognition of Ishwara. It is enough if the person concerned recognises himself as the eternal witness OR it is enough if you recognise that the world is not a real concept. Sri Ramana Maharshi remarked, An Atma Jnani alone can be an ideal karma yogi. Guest guest
Hari Om Anandji: Please note that your difference of opinion is only on appearance. After deep enquiry, you will recognize that you do not differ in opinion from Swamiji. Try to explain within yourself what you mean by 'eternal witness.' Also according to Shankara's Advaita Vedanta, world is neither real nor unreal! Finally, Atma Jnani does recognize 'Isvara.' The recognition of Isvara implies that we have cultivated an habit to accept the outcome as 'prasad.' The pure cause and effect logic will imply that acceptance of 'prasad' means the recognition of 'Isvara.' Most of the time we seem to assume that we disagree without realizing that the disagreement is only in appearance and it always evaporates after contemplation! regards, Ram Chandran --- Anand Natarajan <anandn wrote: > > May I differ in opinion? > Karma Yoga need not require the recognition of > Ishwara.
