Guest guest
Adi Shankara Jayanti Today, 8th May - Hindus celebrate Adi Shankara birth anniversary. He propounded Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic Vedanta). The perplexing questions of relationship between man, God and the universe as portrayed in most theologies always carry an element of 'arbitrariness. Advaita's explanation has an element of completeness not seen in other schools of philosophies (Hindu as well as Non-Hindu). Advaita portrays the grandest aspiration of mankind "Our true identity -- Our oneness with God". It confers the highest dignity on mankind. jay Vivekananda Centre London
Guest guest
>Adi Shankara Jayanti > >Today, 8th May - Hindus celebrate Adi Shankara birth anniversary. > Hari Om! I feel it is interesting co-incidence, or may well be not so much a co-incidence after all, that today - 8th May is also the birth anniversary of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji too. Although Advaita proclaims there is no birth to our real Self as such, it does help Sadhaks to observe these special days to remind ourselves their teachings. May all be filled with love, light and happiness. Guest guest
It is interesting to note that Shankara Jayanti and Shree Ramanuja Jayanti (in the Shree Vaishnva Tradition it is called Bhagawad Ramanuja tirinakshatram) and Swami Chinmayanandaji's birth day as Srinivas noted and also in the west - 'THE TEACHERS APPRECIATION WEEK' - are all essentially in the same week.
