Guest guest Posted May 10, 2000 Report Share Posted May 10, 2000 Is Life a Comedy or a Tragedy? The answer is neither. Life is an opportunity to feel, experience and be divine. Life is the gift of the divine to be divine. Some people do perceive they live in the hell and others feel as though they live in the heaven. The Creative Mind is the origin of all such perceptions. According to Advaita Vedanta, all such creations by the mind occur due to our ignorance of the Truth about our Life. When we gain the wisdom (True Knowledge), the intellect is able to discriminate between "real" and "unreal." In the presence of ignorance our perceptions our experience appears as real even though it is unreal. Consequently, we experience the dualities such as heaven and hell, good and bad, right and wrong, friends and foes, and joy and sorrow. With wisdom the mind projection of dualities disappears and we are able to experience the Truth. Ignorance injects the mind with illusions and unreal appears as though it is real. With Gita Satsang, we can learn to drive out ignorance and gain Wisdom. For all advaitins, this week of Sankara Jayanthi Celebration is a good time to understand the role of Gita in removing the dualities.
