Guest guest
Members of Advaitin List & Gita Satsang: Hari Om and Pranams. Recently as most of you know an Indian Girl from Bangalore Ms.Lara Dutt won the Miss Universe title in Cyprus. My letter to the editor of a local news paper, I linked this to our Indian philsophical thought process, in a lighter vein. It was published today in Saudi Gazette. I share with you this article as it was addressed to a famous US Lady in USA where several members are based. Monumental Beauty Perhaps the readers think that the great monuments of the past have little left to say , but I recently came across this interesting communication from the TajMahal Dear Statute of Liberty, I am very happy to let you know that yet another of my wonderful children have won with ease, the coveted title of Miss World, initiated and made popular by the land where you wave your torch of Liberty. Beauty is nothing new to India. In Indian mythology Rathi was a famous character. Not so long back (by Indian standards) I, the world’s most beautiful monument, TajMahal, was built for an Indian beauty, who was literally, a queen. Please excuse my modesty. In modern days, Beauty titles are won or lost not just on the shine of the eyes, cheeks or other parts. IQ & GK count as much. Simply put, Indian Girls are not just beautiful they are also smarter. Perhaps the modern grooming & coaching institutions imported from your country do help. Whatever it is, I believe, the fundamentals are strong on which they work. Indian Girls are basically good stuff. Could it be the herbs or the Oil bath? Is it the turmeric, henna or the jasmine flowers? May be the Sandalwood oil and the rose water is the key. No, not these worldly stuff which can only add but cannot create. The main reason for their beauty is the atmosphere of love and peace they are brought up in. For this the entire credit should go to their mothers who have brought up the daughters with affection, taking care to inculcate, the best of Indian traditions, while not ignoring the modern education. So the beauty of Indian girls go much deeper. They are as beautiful inside as they are outside. They are radiate inner peace. This inturn, reflects on their face and whole body features, which are quintessentially feminine. They are graceful whether moving or still. Their natural charm is from their inner glow. The success of the Indian Beauties in World & Universe contests is a proof of superiority of mind over matter. Their IQ scores exceed the total of their vital statistics. Their mild food habits, which emphasize a large, dose of vegetables and fruits over animal matter also helps in keeping the calories low. This is one reason, why all of them are below 60, Oh No! I don’t mean the age, I am referring to their weight in Kgs. Now you may wonder why my girls are not clamoring for liberty from males. They don't need to. They control them after all. Beauty comes at a price. More beauty for my girls is less freedom for their victims. How do I know all this? Well I have been around twice as long as you have been around. 330 years is good enough to make a sound comment. Sincerely, TajMahal P.B.V.Rajan E-Mail: pbvrajan __________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
Guest guest
Rajanji! that was great. May i add to and echo what all you said below. I too stumbled across beauty and came forth with following observations. There are 3 things.... 1. Education 2. High Ideals and Piousness ( Sanskaars ). 3. Outer Beauty After much observation and experience i realised that Education gives a hard to describe beauty in the sense of making one matured, confident and a understanding individual. It gives one a glow of calmness and one who is close to nature. Then comes Higher Ideals, Thoughts and Piousness. These are what make one a real person. Gives one a solidarity along with a kind and loving heart. Something which is hard to blend in proper manner. Makes one as fearless and daring as a lion. True the learned ones say that "If one is all beautiful from inside then one day that beauty will spill out and will make one beautiful from outside too." The words are not mere poetic but every word of it is very scientfic and hard reality. My experience with mantraas too speak the same. Thats what makes these words very scientific and reasonable for me. Beauty starts and resides in heart. And Rajanji you have said the very golden words that India has that divine environment of love and peace. This is what builds up India. This is what makes India what it is. After all this comes the physical beauty. Once i went to one of the personality development guest session. I picked up a sentence from there which i think fits in here quite well. the person there said these words "Cowdung covered with an icing". Let me use them in present context. Without Education, Morality, love and respect towards nature, Piousness, high Ideals outer beauty is just like the "cowdung covered up with an icing". As one will decay icing will decay and what will remain will just be a CowDung which will smell. But if one has the inner and outer beauty both that person will always smell of divine roses. I don't know where the Beauty Peagents stand or where does Miss Universe satnd but this is what real beauty is. Beauty is divine, divine is beauty Beauty is the joy forever. If there is jealousy, revenge, anger, indifference in one then sooner or later beauty will leave one, may it be outer or inner beauty. Guest guest
Dear Rajan ji and list, Pranam, I am a new r to this list, I want your permission to express my views on Indian Beauty and Miss Universe. I am just trying to fit the participation of Indian women in Miss Universe to our vedic culture. In our history, there are descriptions of these type of competitions for the selections of Nagar-Vadhu ( In modern words: city-prostitute). In these competitions, participants had to undergone several rounds which were for presenting their physical beauty, their intelligence and their expertise in various arts of dance etc. These Nagar-Vadhus were having a good position in the society. Amarpali is the famous story we all know. However these women were not chaste women, they were not allowed to live usual life of a women. They were not allowed to marry. certain more restictions were there. Sorry for hurting the feelings for the persons who have some other opinion about beauty pageants, but I don't find any other place for them to fit them in our Indian culture. What these competitions are, although they are appreciating the intelligence of women, Are they not for presenting the body of the women for the lusty reasons? Swim suit rounds, the type of dresses the participant wear in these competitions, how can one justify them with respect to our 'Indian Culture'. In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna clearly advises to come over the lust, how can you come over the lust, when somebody is finding the ways for increasing your lust. >From the ages, women are object of worship in India. They always maintained there dignity. We find chaste ladies everywhere in our history. It is also a fact that at present our society is lacking the vedic culture, so women are no more a object of worship............. Please forgive me for my ignorance, May be my view looks to you a view of person with narrow mindness, However I love our culture. I appreciate if you give any comments.
