Guest guest
Karma yoga is for the man of activity. He does not have a contemplative bent of mind. Held by the active phase of energy he is under the compulsion of physical activities for his fulfillment. Krishna advocates for him a lifestyle based on performance of actions supported by an attitude - an attitude towards his actions, which will also reveal the limitation of actions and their results. This, in turn, will neutralize the stranglehold of expectations and help the active person to own a subdued mind. It will be a mind, which is free from the habituated agitation caused by irrational expectations. Such a mind is capable of contemplation. Krishna's call is "Pursue actions chosen with discretion; execute them with perfection; receive the results of actions with mental equipoise. Always be alert and aware of your dedication to your goal, which is knowledge of Self." This appears to be the essential message to Arjuna, the representative of all seekers of all times. Excerpted from Swamiji's talks on Karma Yoga-published as Harmony by Action 1989).
