This is my take on a post on this list earlier. See the *s

* Signs that you are getting on....... Spiritually

 

Note : Age - with a capital "A" - denotes spiritual maturity

> ~ Maybe it's true that life begins at fifty. But everything else

> starts to wear out, fall out, or spread out.

* Life gets more and more blessed as attachments start to "wear

out", vasanas start to "fall out" or our perception of our relationship with

the universe starts to "spread out" encompassing more and more of the living

and non-living world.

> ~ There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory.

> I forget the other two.

* Three signs of "Spiritual Maturity". The first is that you see the

Self everywhere, everytime, and in every situation. There are no other two.

> ~ You're getting old when you don't care where your spouse goes, just

> as long as you don't have to go along.

* You are getting on in Age when you don't care where your wild

horses (vasanas) go, just as long as you don't have to go along.

> ~ Middle age is when work is a lot less fun--and fun is a lot more

> work.

* Spiritual Middle Age is when work is worship and worship isn't

work

> ~ Statistics show that at the age of seventy, there are five women to

> every man. Isn't that a bad time for a guy to get those odds?

* Statistics show that by the age of seventy only 1% of the human

population have two women to every man. We all need to try harder !!! (The

two women : FAITH, GNYAN.)

> ~ You know you're getting on in years when the girls at the office

> start confiding in you.

* You know you are gettin on in Age when the girls at the office

start confiding in you ... and all you can do is feel their pain, think how

you can help them and help them.

> ~ Middle age is when it takes longer to rest than to get tired.

* Middle Age is when it takes longer to succumb to pleasures than to

resist.

> ~ Middle age is when you have stopped growing at both ends, and have

> begun to grow in the middle.

* Middle Age is when you have stopped growing ego at one end (head)

and have begun to grow in the middle (heart)

> ~ You know you're into middle age when you realize that caution is the

> only thing you care to exercise.

* You know you are into Middle Age when you realize that caution is

the only thing you care to exercise. (different meaning to the same

statement)

> ~ You're getting old when you're sitting in a rocker and you can't get

> it started.

* You are old when you are sitting in bliss and can't get enough of

it.

> ~ Doctor to patient: I have good news and bad news: the good news is

> that you are not a hypochondriac.

* Guru to Sadhak : I have good news and better news : the good news

is that you are not irredeemable. The better news is you have the help,

advice and well-wishes of all those who have gone ahead of you.

> ~ It's hard to be nostalgic when you can't remember anything.

* It's hard to be nostalgic when you KNOW everything

> ~ You know you're getting old when you stop buying green bananas.

* You know you are getting Old when you stop buying pain and start

selling (spreading) light

> ~ Last Will and Testament: Being of sound mind, I spent all my money.

* Last Will and Testament : Being of sound mind, I AM THAT.

> ~ When you lean over to pick something up off the floor, you ask

> yourself if there is anything else you need to do while you are down

> there.

* When He leans over to pull some one up (spiritually), He DOES NOT

ask anything except that you believe.

> ~ You find yourself in the middle of the stairway, and you can't

> remember if you were downstairs going up or upstairs going down.

* You find yourself in the middle of the stairway, and you dont care

if you were downstairs going up or upstairs going down... You just find

youself exactly where you always wanted to be.

For a spiritual person is ageless, and the question of

middle age doesn't arise!
