Guest guest
hariH OM! obviously the intellect is the problem...our most significant obstacle!...and attempting to satisfy it is not our purpose (sadhana). the whole point in attempting to intellectually clarify *at all* [in terms of understanding... i.e. in discovering the ways and means of the practical method in 'deep' metaphysics], is to expose the fact that there's an ongoing battle taking place within the Mind. and the best way to defuse this battle is to come to terms with the *invariably* negative judgments habitually developing out of it; which is the product of the fundamental 'self vs not-self' paradigm in conjenction with its corresponding set-up in Relativity [necessarily inherent within Life's manifestation] which is itself an *archetypal* dynamic. the message is: if we can process virtually everything coming in through the six senses as brahman Itself [the substratum thereof], and *not* as things in themselves [which is the *only* factor spawning the Unreal], which thus create this ongoing antagonism between what is attractive vs what is repulsive or what is aggreeable vs what is disaggreeable to us. whereas, if we can maintain foucus on their subtratum source we will have effectively succeeded in neutralizing their impact on us...and therefore neutralizing the impact of our philosophical speculative Mind (this being the whole ball of wax!). in other words, this approach is essentially a medicine designed to dissolve the habitual churning of the Mind. it's mean't to augment/compliment the *primary method* of Self-enquiry, not replace it! however, if this approach is adopted it will plant a seed in the Mind, which will eventually blossom, allowing us to dissolve the ongoing habit/infliction in/of the Mind. this could be compared to fighting fire with fire...that is, using the Mind to destroy the Mind (i.e the philosophical Mind). here's the problem, in practical terms: we stand there judging this, categorizing that, in terms of given things being tamasic, rajasic, satvic or blends thereof, perpetuating thus the battle as to what is attractive or repulsive to us. (it should be pointed out that even the purely satvic guna, unto itself, is still quite removed from its substratum source in brahman. however, all of the gunas have as their source, the brahman! and this is what i'm struggling to convey here. indeed, i've been trying to convey this for years on our List!) here's the solution, in simple terms: we need to be capable of looking beyond what presents itself as exclusive, isolated Appearances, and pragmatically realize the source and origin causal to such Appearances. "All there is, is brahman." that which exists, Manifest and Unmanifest, is a seamless Whole. this is the central core of the advaitic message. namaste Send instant messages with Messenger. http://im./
