Guest guest
Hari Om! Last week I visited the beautiful Barsana Dham in Austin, TX where the idols of Krishna and Radha are breathtakingly beautiful and exquisitively decorated. Indeed the place is also very peaceful and serene with magnificient temple architecture and beautiful peacocks walking in front of the temple! Recently, Madhavaji prodded me to write poem, and sorry for I got it in Telugu but sharing with you the approximate translation too. kandam: sirulimmani yaDuganu yE virulimmani yaluganayya vinutimpaganin girulettamananu viDuvaka maruvaka naa manamununDu mayyaa krishnaa || Krishna, I ask not you to shower me with wealth Nor bring me rare Paarijaata flowers to my hearth! Never will ask you to lift mountains for me, Beseech you only to reside in my mind without leaving me! Guest guest
The 'small prayer' from Srinivas Nagulapalli is delightful because it is in effect the essence of all religion and philosophy. I would like to recall the following poem of Surdas which echoes similar sentiments in typical Surdas's style: Do this much for me, when it is time to breathe my last. Let the name of Govind be over my lips, When it is time to breathe my last. Let me be on the banks of the Ganga or the Jamuna, Let the Dark One be close, When it is time to breathe my last. Wearing a pitambar, let your image be before me. Let there be a smile on my lips, When it is time to breathe my last. When my breath chokes, let disease not bother me, let Yama not frighten me, When it is time to breathe my last. Hurry then, and don't forget to bring Radha along, When it is time to breathe my last. This is the prayer of a devotee, the wish of some one in need What you will do with me is up to you, When it is time to breathe my last. praNAms to all advaitins. profvk Prof.V.
