I think the ideas are very well expressed and the tutorial style is quite

effective. You mentioned that we had only covered the introductory part till

now. As you take up individual topics for more detailed discussion, I would

appreciate some more background info about the topic before delving into the

mantras. The series is certainly a big help in trying to fathom the oldest

scripture in existence - especially since i don't know the language in which

it is written.

I noticed that you are giving an english translation of the mantra

immediately after the mantra. I just wanted to say it is a big help. Please

continue to do so. And if time permits - and if there is any merit in doing

so - you can even consider a word-to-word meaning of the mantra before

giving the english translation. Something similar to the Gita commentary

that we are getting on the list.

I read Raimon Panikar's book on the Vedas. His interpretation is good in its

own way. IMHO, It is a poetical rendering of portions of the Veda in

English. Whereas your exposition is more detailed. But I think you will

agree, that to understand the Rig Veda you need not only the scientist's

methods (as you are demonstrating) but also the poet's sensitivity (as

Raimon Panikar so effectively shows in his book)

I humbly request you to continue the series for the benefit of all on this

list.

Thanks again and again for sharing the light.

Yes, it seems to be good idea. I did not realize difficulties some list members

may face in

uncoupling the words in Sandhi. Only thing is, it will increase the size of each

posting slightly, because I try to complete a sub-topic in each posting.

Yes, I agree. I also like Panikkar's exposition, but I have slightly different

purpose, thats all.

Namaste,

It just so happened that the DLS site went on-line with these!:

" Daily Invocations have been uploaded to H.H. Swami Krishnananda Web

Site. The Daily Invocations have The Satarudriya, Purushasukta,

Narayanasukta and Srisukta. This is a great blessing to mankind that

we have these ancient hymns of the Vedas available to us.

http://swami-krishnananda.org/invoc_0.html

These Hymns have been eulogized by the Brahm Vidya Gurus. BrahmRisi

Veda Vyas has stresses the efficacy and power of these hymns.

We are all blessed that these Divine Hymns are presented to us.

OM "

I am also looking forward to your contributions explaining the meaning of
