Namaste,

Here is another type of answer:

" Cicero saith, that to Philosophise is no other thing, than for a man to

prepare himselfe to death: which is the reason, that studie and

contemplation doth in some sort withdraw our soule from us, and severally

employ it from the body, which is a kind of apprentissage and resemblance of

death; or else it is, that all the wisdome and discourse of the world, doth

in the end resolve upon this point, to teach us, not to feare to

die."........

Can Krishan elaborate on what he means here?

>2. How can Gita be understand better?

For someone living in the U.K. or another Western country? The Gurukula

system or the Chinmaya Mission have excellent instruction. The deepest and

most profound insights having to do with the texts are always handed down

orally, and cannot be found in written commentaries. Commentaries usually

err on the dry, scholastic, literal side, with less benefit of the way

Sanskrit is used to convey the sastric message. Besides Gurukula

instruction, meditation and contemplation also help.

>3. What makes the difference between Man and Man?

At the level of their true nature, Man and Man do not differ, as Brahman

does not differ from Brahman. Any perceived differences are relative, but

a helpful way to look relatively is to ask, "Is God important in this man's

life? Is this man moving closer to God or farther from God?"

Om!

Hari Om! I am sure you will find many other answers to these questions.

Have an open mind and accept them all, choose for yourself which is right

and follow it with unwavering faith. You shall win...

1. How can "the word" be good and pure ?

[Ans:]

Utter it with good and pure intention... Read it with pure and good

intention...

2. How can Gita be understand better?

[Ans:]

Learn it from a learned master. I am sure you will find one out there...

Also, there is Chinmaya Mission / Arsha vidya gurukulam / Ramakrishna

Mission, where you can find competent Masters who have got insight to teach

Gita. If you don't have access to any of these, then follow this path:

1. Read one chapter per day, with out reading the meaning. You should get

familiar with the slokas first. It is because Bhagawad Gita slokas should

be stored in your memory so that you can recollect them when ever you want.

It is very easy to memorize Gita slokas, that is why it is called "Smiriti

Prasthana". This process will take 18 days.

2. After finishing the first step, read meanings of each sloka as fast as

you can. Do not attempt to read any commentary. Just read it as it is,

with word to word meaning. By the end you should be in a position to

recollect the sloka along with its meaning.

3. Now that you know the sloka and the meaning, start reading commentaries

of the chapters 2nd, 6th, 12th, 18th. You will come to know which is a

suitable path for your mind. Then read the entire commentary, all the

chapters of Gita. Once you approach Gita with a clear understanding of the

way which you choose to travel, you will get new insights. May God be with

you...

3. What makes the difference between Man and Man?

[Ans:]

Perception makes the difference...

Harih Om:

The word, "water" if it is pure, it will be also good!

When the mind is pure, the perception of 'pure' and

'good' become disfunctional.

God is pure and good whether we agree or disagree.

Good deeds will yield pure thoughts.

The word 'good' contains the word 'god'the symbol for

purity.

Gita is the manual to repair human behavior. No manual

can be understood without practice and Gita is no

exception.

Man makes the difference between Man and Man. When Man

sees himself on the other Man's heart then the other

Man will be able to reciprocate the same. All the

differences will melt along with their ignorance!

Krishan Kaushal asked (via jay):

> 1. How can "the word" be good and pure ?

Does "the word" here refer to The Word in a Rg Veda (I think) and John

1 verse which actually refer to AUM?

> 2. How can Gita be understand better?

For a scholarly understanding, I suggest one reads the entire

Mahabharata before reading the Bhagavad Gita. And before reading the

Mahabharata, one should read the Ramayana. After these three, one

may try reading the Bhagavatha's stories on Krishna leelas (which is

that story Sage Suka tells Maharaja Parikhshit).

> 3. What makes the difference between Man and Man?

You mean the difference between human beings? I agree to someone

else's answer - the mind.
