Guest guest
Greetings to you all: Now that we have finished four chapters of Bhawad Gita, I wanted to ask you a few questions. a. Did you ever wanted to raise a question and kept quite? if so, what is making you keep silent? b. What, do you think, is told up to now in Gita, can you just write in a few lines? c. Remembering Arjuna's condition in the 1st chapter, by the end of 4th chapter there is tremendous change in the way the teaching is taking place.... Did you notice? Did you feel that the teaching has shifted in to a different level? More questions later... But please do not hesitate to comment or question. Let us use the Gita satsang and gain maximum out of it. Meditating silence is best.. However sometimes, I wonder, why should we practice our meditation while staring at the computer :-) I remain yours, Madhava
Guest guest
Harih Om Madhavaji: As one of the moderators of this list, I admire your leadership in coordinating the Gita Satsang. I know that you are aware that conducting the Gita Satsang is the smartest (also easiest) way to learn and practice Karma Yoga. Let me take this opportunity to remind our beloved advaita list members that posting questions (and) comments is an integral part of Karma Yoga. The key idea of Karma Yoga is to take efforts effortlessly! This is not an easy task and we do need practice and this mailing list is the opportunity for all of us to practice. There is no reason for us hesitate or postpone our efforts. When the leader of the list is requesting some feedback, it is our duty to respond! We don't need to wait till the end of Chapter 18 to respond and let us start right now and not later. I am as eager as Madhavaji in looking forward to the feedback from every member of the list. Let us help Madhavaji's efforts to become effortless! regards, Ram Chandran --- "Madhava K. First, my heartfelt appreciation to shri Madhava and the gItA team for presenting this weekly discussion on bhagavadgItA. It is a very dedicated effort. Now, some sketchy answers to the questions a. Please see below in the feedback section b. I think the essence of gItA is all in chapter 2 and the rest of the chapters are expansions of the material of chapter 2. c. The quality of Arjuna's questions have certainly improved from Arjuna viShAdayoga of chapter 1. That is to be expected. The narration of gItA as I see it: Veda vyAsa sets up Arjuna's condition in chapter 1. Krishna's teaching in a concise way is in chapter 2. VyAsa is expanding on these answers in detail making Arjuna ask questions which a reader in Arjuna's condition would ask. Now, some feedback on our gItA-satsang While I congratulate the gItA team, I feel the gItA series is suffering from lack of discussion. I am as guilty as anyone else for this. I feel a wonderful opportunity is getting lost. Part of the reason for lack of discussion may be the following. Personally I find the material covered every week is excessive. Going in depth into six or seven verses, to assimilate and to digest and to contemplate is a bit too-straining on the time. Particularly, I find that a single post of 20,000 bytes (three or four screenfuls) is beyond what one can read in a single sitting (in addition to other mails that accumulate); and hence quite often I find the material (particularly the latter portions of the gItA presentation) unread. So much so, what is happening in my case is: the voluminous posts of the gItA are being set aside for latter reading and these latter readings getting postponed continuously. Thus I would prefer may be three verses a week and that too may be a few on a monday post and a few on a thursday post. I am sure other List-members have other suggestions. But, somehow, I think the discussion portion of the covered material has to be improved. Regards Gummuluru Murthy ------
Guest guest
Namaste, I join heartily in Murthyji's encomiums to the Gita Team. One suggestion I would offer is for the moderators to relate the proliferating threads to the Gita primarily, and to other writings as indicated. Guest guest
hariH Om! Greetings to you all. Thank you very much for your kind suggestions regarding Bhagawad Gita. Suprabha and a few others sent private messages expressing the same view of Prof. Murthy! While discussing on how many slokas per week week, we thought it would be appropriate to send one sloka per day, which is 7 slokas per week. But I realized now that it is too much to read :-) I agree with you wholeheartedly, and let us change the stratagy. >From tomorrow onwards we will send you appropriate slokas so that the teaching thread is consistent. For some strange reason, I am not able to receive messages from e- groups server. I don't know why, the system settings were perfect though! I will use the INTERNET to view the messages. Hence I would apologize in advance for the delay in sending my mails. I remain yours, Madhava advaitin , Gummuluru Murthy <gmurthy@m...> wrote: > > On Mon, 7 Aug 2000, Madhava K.
