This world is a beautiful garden of the Lord, laid to enable a human being walk in it with great joy. Why then should he experience unhappiness in this place because if there was no such pleasure intended, then God would not have created it at all. So, there is some mistake in a man's understanding, in his attitude and in his behaviour, resulting in experiencing an inexplicable grief. Hence it is the primary duty of a man to improve his vision. God is everywhere but man should have a clear eye to see Him. God can be seen through the adoption of proper spiritual exercises. The Lord Himself has declared that man cannot see His real form with the physical eyes but only by the Divine eye which will be provided by Him. A person needs a microscope to examine bacteria. Many ask as to why if God is so merciful and omnipotent, He should not reveal His form to them. The example that can be given is about the need to have electricity, a receiving set, a switch and an aerial to obtain pictures which are telecast. A person has to seek the guidance of a realised soul (a saint), and request him with utmost humility to teach the method to experience the presence of God, who is within every heart. Kabir said ``Mind is Mathura, heart is Dwaraka and know the body to be Varanasi. Recognise the eternal flame in it''. Swami Vivekananda has pointed out that every soul is destined to be perfect and the human frame is a golden opportunity to achieve the goal of life. The scriptures enjoin upon us not to regard ourselves as ``all- knowing'', not to believe that we can control ourselves and that we should have a qualified preceptor to take us near the Almighty. Those who have no proper guidance will fall like leaves. A leaf is at first green, flourishing and attractive but it is sure to wither away. What is the path one has to follow and what is to be avoided can be known when one gets the association of pious men during meetings where God's glory is being extolled and stories about Him are related. Spiritual masters will always encourage those who approach them, to work hard, acquire true knowledge and attain salvation. Guru Nanak has said: ``This is a dark age, so meditate constantly on the holy names.'' In a message, Sri Satpal Maharaj explained that God has given us basic freedom to choose any way of life - to be Divine or to be Satanic. We can become angels or devils, go to heaven or hell, make our lives peaceful or miserable. It is for us to tread the path of liberation and spirituality. The more we meditate the stronger we will become. The kingdom of heaven is within us, say the scriptures. Copyrights: 2000 The Hindu & Tribeca Internet Initiatives Inc.
