Guest guest
f. maiello [egodust] hariH OM! namaste i haven't an inkling as to why i do what i do... not really. i'm re-involving my energies on the political front, re the upcoming election as well as in touch with the UN and US State Dept with the explosive situation in the Middle East. the caliber of ignorance in the political arena as well as of the average global citizen is truly astounding! on one hand i'm compelled to care, on the other if the world blew up tomorrow i wouldnt give a fig! only because it will be back. only because nothing dies. (please forgive the hurriedness in my dialogue) again, harshaji zeroed in on the pulse of the issue. ramana is the one to look toward. his life is a testimonial to his prarabdha, as he repeatedly told us. there are no rigid and steadfast rules in the yogamarga. sweeping generalizations are blunderous. ___ Well stated Frankji and thank you for your kind comments earlier. Sweeping generalizations are indeed problematic. Robin made some excellent points as well and I will respond to that later in the evening. I think this is an important discussion for more than what meets the eye. In my view, using absolute dictates of authority is not too subtle a way to attempt to control and exert power over others. One of the lessons we have to teach our young people is to be alert and independent and intelligent in their thinking. Given that many of our gurus and religious teachers and priests do not live up to the standards they impose on their disciples should be an indication of the potential for hypocrisy when rigid and absolute standards are advocated by those who do not themselves understand yet the Nature of Reality as Self. Guest guest
Namaste, Maitri Upanishad states: VI:29 "...Let no one declare this most secret doctrine to anyone who is not a son, who is not a pupil, who is not of a tranquil mind. To one who is devoted to none other [than his teacher], to one endowed with all qualities, one may give it." Gita states: XVIII:67 " Never is this to be spoken by thee to one who is not austere in life or who has no devotion or who is not obedient or who speaks ill of Me." The Bible states: Matthew Ch.7:v. 6 "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."
