Guest guest
Hello. Dear friends I am enjoying both sides of this lovely discussion & read interestedly everyone's high level contributions. Thanks. advaitin , "nanda chandran" <vpcnk@H...> wrote: > In the Vivekachoodamani it is said that one who doesn't give up sensual > pleasures and still tries to see the Atman - is like somebody who mistakes a > crocodile for a tree trunk and grasps it to cross the river - he'll be > destroyed. <snip> I just want to share from another way too .. This giving up of sensual pleasures means to me to give up the ignorance of the lop sided view that we are relative & trying to find God through objective science, & in each other such as in relationship with 'things & other'. It is painfully living as the conditioned mask looking for God. It is suffering. It's the material paradigm where consciousness is seen as an epiphenomenon of matter. Sensuality is usually a word reserved for body play & sexuality of body mind; yet I do believe that even the joy of finding God is infinitely more sensual (not confined to body mind or material body mind). > > I wouldn't question Aurobindo, but still doubt if sex is compatible with the > jnAnic quest. So how can that ever benefit the spiritual aspirant? Dear One I wish to speak here. It's this word 'against'. Some say that we as Spirit come here TO experience through the body mind. The attributeless Source loves its own creation of attributes. Absolutely loves. It's All God the One (fomless & form). And it's the dance between both which is the greatest love story ever told (& we're living It). Shiva loves Shakti & dances as the whole. It's this tremendous yearning to behold the Beloved (from form & body mind) part of this dance? Even in ignorance many yearn to find God. Many (unfortunately believing the materialistic paradigm) just grope around in forms through sex etc. If we just grapple around in the dark & shadows of form, we won't find It. Transcending form, we are delivered & One. Formless awareness (the witness Seer) then finds Self in form I believe. This is what Frank often alludes to. It is not to shirk form as taboo, for It Is none other that the One. It's All consciousness, formless & form. How is union of the All accomplished? I have heard it described as the dance of penetrating & embracing energies. Some say this is none other than masculine & feminine at ever subtler levels merging & finding the Self in All (whether inanimate or anaimate objects). Consciousness Is everywhere in every thing. Some say this is subtle, sexual & sensual. This is the Divine Romance. Some call this energy dance 'sexual' for it is penetration & embracement (masculine & feminine polarities). If awakening is not sensual even sexual, then what is? I speak not of body sex but of the dance of masculine & feminine ENERGY, of eyes meeting the same One in animals flowers babies & children, & in each other loving & smiling & JOINING. This is merging. It's sexual isn't it? Subtle energy joins dances plays & rejoices in finding the same Self in all. What is the ecstasy of meeting God if not 'sexual'? It's union of masculine & feminine isn't it? (ENERGY). We fear sex so much as many were taught it was bad & sinful, yet God merges with us doesn't He/She? Wouldn't you call that the ultimate Union of masculine & feminine energies? Shiva adores Shakti & Shakti adores Shiva, & thus the dance of form loving formless & formless loving form is forever. God Is Life. Life is union. Union is 'sexual' (not just body wise but soul & spirit). seems so to some. Many feel that becoming whole means balancing one's own masculine & feminine energies. One unites with One's own opposites to find Self some say. If it wasn't sensual we wouldn't be drawn to unite would we? LOVE plays an essential role in this whole divine romance. Without love there's no joy. No real union at all. No finding God without love. Love merges. Love must be sexual too :-)! I am also reading at present the What Is Enlightenment magazine which has as it's theme 'What does it mean to be IN THE WORLD but NOT OF IT?' & I think this question is worth exploring. I would like to put out there for those who are aware & not celibate how they see this as Being accomplshed? And whether tests continue of becoming over engrossed at times in the world ... for I hear the warnings from many. Is it constant vigilance or an embracement, or both? :-) I look forward to any responses. Someone once said to me that so long as we have form that there will be tests, & maybe that is so the Dance of finding One Self in ever subtler & subtler deeper & wider levels & joys continues. What do you think? Bye now, Luv, Colette
