I wonder who wrote it? Are you saying it was from Ramana? In appreciation, Col
Guest guest
Dear Col. It is the essence of Ribhu Gita which Sri. Ramana Maharshi often used to refer in his talks. Someone bought me the Avadhuta Gita translated by Swami Chetananananda. I have been so interestedly reading the quotes from it shared from the Vivekananda Center so I am grateful & will share a quote from it which I believe relates to the quote which you also shared earlier ... "The all pervading Brahman is freedom Itself. The divisions of short & long, circular & angular, are absent in It .. " Now I also want to share a Ramana quote I saw today in the What is Enlightenment? magazine. I believe it pertains to this discussion on celibacy. (Sorry if someone else has already shared this earlier) "Why do you think of yourself as a householder? If you become a wandering monk, a similar thought - that you are a renunciate - will haunt you. Whether you continue as a husband or a father, or renounce your family & go to the forest, your small self will still accompany you. The self is the source of thoughts. It creates the body & the world & makes you think that you are really a householder. If you renounce the world, it will only substitute the thought 'renunciate' for 'householder' & the environment of the forest for that of the household. But the mental obstacles are always there. They even increase in new surroundings. There is no help in the change of environment. The obstacle is the mind. It must be overcome whether at home or in the forest. If you can do it in the forest, why not in the home? Therefore why change the environment? Your efforts can be made now whatever your environment may be." Ramana Maharshi Nice to share, Peace, Col
