Namaste,

Maitri Upanishad states: VI:29

"...Let no one declare this most secret doctrine to anyone who is not

a son, who is not a pupil, who is not of a tranquil mind. To one who

is devoted to none other [than his teacher], to one endowed with all

qualities, one may give it."

Gita states: XVIII:67

" Never is this to be spoken by thee to one who is not austere in

life or who has no devotion or who is not obedient or who speaks ill

of Me."

The Bible states: Matthew Ch.7:v. 6

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your

pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and

turn again and rend you."

Dear Sunderji,

The meaning behind your quotes in the context of this discussion on celibacy

is not clear to me. I would appreciate your further elaboration.

Namaste,

They were only meant to reinforce the need to develop those

qualifications necessary to understand the scriptures, and the

enlightened ones whose thoughts, words and deeds are extensions of

the same.

Thank you for your explanation Sunderji. In the spiritual field as in most

fields of human endeavor, there are bound to be differences in perspectives

even among reasonable, spiritual, and learned people due to differing

backgrounds, experiences, and traditions, etc. Such diversity can be an

opportunity for us to examine our patience, the strength of our faith, and

our understanding of the truth.

Love to all
