(not purpose) > > ======================== There are two major opinions (1) The Dvaita Vedanta (mainly Monotheism within Hinduism) will say - Absolutely no purpose to "all of this". (our being here) It is a mere play of the Lord (technical word for this being Leela). A play has no purpose - it is play for the sake of play and there is nothing to be achieved by the Lord (or our life) - he just 'mucking about'. (2) The Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic philosophy within Hinduism) will say - This question that vexes us so much and gets us so worked up; arises in a state of delusion and has no meaningful reply as the question arose in a state of ignorance it has limited (or even nil) validity. The sceptics will say:- The first answer seems like digression into playfulness : ) The second answer seems to be sheer escapism : ) We have to ask them:- Ok, then you give us a more rational answer.... Why is there something rather than nothing??.... jay Vivekananda Centre London http://www.vivekananda.co.uk
