Experiential conch blowing:

I certainly wouldn't disagree with what is being said symbolically

about the Conch shell, but I also feel one needs to physically blow a

conch as an experience in and of itself...

For me it clears the mind and gives a celebratory and victorious

quality to my devotional life so I usually blow the conch daily.

I also fashioned a blowing conch shell from a large ten inch Nautilus

shell that has a wonderfully deep tone. This can be done rather easily

using a power drimm to drill the hole and a file to smooth the edges.

To me as I said the conch is an experience very worth while, but I

should add it does takke a little practise as you need to wet your lips

and find the right shape to be successful in it.

Hey Jen.

The call of the Absolute. I believe that according to Advaita,

the Absolute makes no calls. That is, there is only the One, without

a second, and therefore there is nobody for the Absolute to call.

To put it another way, from the "regard" of the Absolute, there is

only the Absolute. It doesn't "see" anything other than Its

undifferentiated Self.

Now, the Atman resides in that secret chamber of the heart, and

deep within, your heart may be calling, telling you that the Atman

lies there. So by all means hear the call and dive deep into your

own heart. There you will find yourself as the One, and realize

that you were never anything else to begin with.
