It generally means, "to give a name to at baptism (at church)." You can probably say, "He was hailed by one of his disciples as ..." Response: Agreed. I had used it without delving into its right meaning. I will be careful in future. I am trying to use as many Samskritam words as I can and your feedback is one more step in that direction. Feedback: Does "Thiru" also mean "beautiful" in Tamil? Response: (Context of Thiruchuzhi ?) I have not heard it being used in that sense. All the usages that I have known so far are only as “sacred” or “auspicious”. I will be willing to learn if it is used in any other way.
