Guest guest
Commenting on the Turiya avastha many of our members have given examples and quotes to say that the turiya avastha is not a fourth state and not different than any one of the three states of conciousness that the jiva encounters in its normal existence. Gaudapada states specifically that in 'Sushupti' the mind is in a state of 'laya' and is unaware that it is not absorbing anything, unaware that it is 'Nigriheetaha'.Whereas in its 'turiya' state i.e.its 'Nirvikalpa' state the mind is aware that it is in a state of Pure Conciousness - Kevala Dhrk. Since all the avasthaas of the Jiva including this Turiya state have very much to do with Jivatvam and therefore, in order to realize Its Brahmatvam, the Jiva logically, has to move further forward towards Turiyateaeta,I presume? Is this understanding right? Could Sunderji please give the full texts that he has given to us in his postings regarding this Turiyaaataeeta ? Hari Om! Guest guest
Namaste Swaminarayanji, I am assuming you are referring to Mandukya Karika III:34 & 35. [The translations are at URL: http://www.philo.demon.co.uk/gaudapad.htm], without Shankara's commentary. Shankara's commentary on these tallies with Sri Ramana's, as far as I can understand.
